AES is a widely recognised and adapted cryptographic module used in the U.S., Canada and worldwide, ensuring that the encryption algorithm used by the Opal-Compliant SED30 adheres to the specified standards and provides a level of security deemed appropriate for protecting sensitive data. Along with password matching and security functions contained in the cryptographic chip, this self-encrypting drive is a great defense against data theft, ensuring your data is secure.

Sensitive cryptographic keys are never exported from the hardware controller, unlike software encryption implementations that are used like a “vault” to protect operating systems installed on drives.
