datAshur awarded critical US data security benchmark FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certification

Considered a benchmark in US government data security, this critical and globally recognised metric demonstrates a technology device has passed a stringent set of rigorous testing procedures and meets the highest standard set for encryption algorithms and data protection.
FIPS 140-2 validation is a crucial FIPS standard in data security as it is required for products utilising cryptography to be procured by the US government. The standard examines 11 areas of a cryptographic module used by a device’s security system, including physical security, cryptographic key management and design assurance. It is available in four qualitative levels offering increasing stages of security. FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certifies the datAshur’s tamper-resistant physical security in addition to its identity-based authentication features.
As a vital measure of data security, the information security standard certification from the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will reassure organisations of all sizes across the UK and beyond of the robust level of protection offered by the datAshur’s security features. The datAshur does not employ software and requires the PIN to be entered via the onboard alphanumeric keypad before the drive is inserted into the USB port on a computer, tablet or mobile device. Furthermore, datAshur’s Brute Force Hack Defence Mechanism will destroy the encryption key and all stored data if the PIN is incorrectly entered 10 consecutive times.
